A claimed match rate is not your usable-record rate. Define the fields and validation rules your workflow needs.
Start here
A large result set is not the same as a useful one. Before comparing enrichment subscriptions, define which fields your workflow needs and what makes a record acceptable. Then test a small, permitted sample. This guide focuses on quality, freshness and the cost of accepted records rather than the biggest advertised database.
Distinguish database access from orchestration
Apollo describes enrichment for existing records. Clay describes a waterfall that tries data providers in sequence. These represent different workflow approaches; the product pages alone do not establish which produces better results for your particular accounts.
Create a controlled evaluation sample
Choose records representative of your intended business use, with a documented reason to process them. Define acceptable values and missing-field behavior. Review the applicable product terms and your organization's data requirements before sending a dataset to a service.
Count usable outcomes
Keep the original record separate from enriched fields. Review conflicting values instead of automatically overwriting the source. Our suggested evaluation distinguishes a returned value from one that passes the rules of your workflow.
- Completeness of required fields.
- Duplicate or conflicting records.
- Source and freshness information where provided.
- Manual review required before use.
- Current cost per accepted record, including unsuccessful attempts.
Choose a maintenance process
Enrichment is a continuing data-quality task. Decide what happens when a field changes and who reviews conflicts. Start with the smallest workflow that produces useful records. Earlier unsourced match-rate rankings have been removed; no universal winner is claimed.
